cool I am getting to know the arduino a little better

this is cool i am getting to know how to use the arduino a little better, though i am still having to use allot of its demos still i am learning how to do some more things. i figured out how to use a pot on a anolog input to control a servo so that is cool.

i hope i can do a few more things like this soon though, and learn how to write the programs from scratch. but i have always had a hard time learning grammer or anything like it. though i can read it and under stand for the most part what it dose, i find it allot harder to write the code in the proper format. but i will learn slowly and bit by bit.

here is the code i used from the demo

// Controlling a servo position using a potentiometer (variable resistor)
// by Michal Rinott

Servo myservo;  // create servo object to control a servo

int potpin = 0;  // analog pin used to connect the potentiometer
int val;    // variable to read the value from the analog pin

void setup()
  myservo.attach(9);  // attaches the servo on pin 9 to the servo object

void loop()
  val = analogRead(potpin);            // reads the value of the potentiometer (value between 0 and 1023)
  val = map(val, 0, 1023, 0, 179);     // scale it to use it with the servo (value between 0 and 180)
  myservo.write(val);                  // sets the servo position according to the scaled value
  delay(15);                           // waits for the servo to get there

i just remembered what i forgot to order

hey there hows it going, today was a good day overall though i just remembered what i forgot to order. i got in my jumper wires today, and a stm8s-discovery today that my friend Trever got for me, i should find out how much i owe him for it, not much if i remember right. but what i forgot to order was some resistors the beginners parts kit from sparkfun dose not have any in it. just to make matters worse it says so right in its description.

but over all i am very glad to get what i got over the past few days, so i am happy. though i do wonder why canada post seems to have such a hard time tracking orders some times.

so i am getting a step closer to being about to get to my goal now so i am very happy about that.

if i have too i will use that other board i got to control the extruder, i think that will be a good use for it, allot of memery on it though. even more than my arduino so overall i am liking it allot, though i will say this i am finding  that the software for it is not nearly has nice has the arduino but the board i like.

but today i did order the stuff i was missing, it is being sent snail mail so it will not get here all that fast, i orded a resistor kit from spark fun, and a RGB led, and some m/f jumper wires, it was pretty much 25 dollars so i though i should try to get has close to that as i could.

a few more parts

well today i got my first order from sparkfun and it was a beginners parts kit, i have been waiting to get it for some time now, it got shipped late. but hey it got here it is just a collection of some common parts that i will be needing, i hope my order from seedstudio  can get here soon that has some more parts that i will be needing in it.

but at the very least this is good news, means that i can at least start trying to do some more stuff, i am saving up for a new soldering iron next and some stepper motor drivers.

slow day

i got a little board lately waiting for my other parts, and i was digging around for some more stuff to do, and i found a wallet case of mine from japan. i noticed it was a really nice fit for my arduino mega so i turned it into  a case for it. it is now mounted in it nice and snugthough i need to fine one more nut to mount it with. guess i need to take some more stuff

one more little piece

i got one more little piece done ( well almost ) i need a spring still and i think i can find one at work.
 i added a belt tensioner to my one axis today, i still need to find a few more parts for it, but i think i can make it work. but this is a little more progress. though i think my motor is not on there level the belt seems to keep going to the top of it and trying to slip off. so i have a few more things to work out of it still.

well i started to do a little work on my bed i got a small stepper mounted to it. that i got from a printer i was given for parts, kinda wish it had some more stuff in it that i could use. but i got what i could get,

it was a pain drilling out the hole for it, i didnt have any drill bits bigger than .5 inch and i needed to make it .6 to get the pully through the hole, so it took longer than i would have liked. but i got her done, and mounted. the pully on the one side i just glued in for now just to see how she would fit. i didnt think i would be needing a shorter belt for it, but at least that is allot less trouble than needing a bigger one.

at least i am getting more and more done, so i am happy.

my uncle is sending me some old part he has so i will have some more stuff to work with here soon too.

the funny part is that i just used pc case screws to attach the stepper motor to the

YAY oh so Happy

yay my arduino mega got here today, i am thrilled about that, i can now start learning more about how to use it and programing for it, i am getting a step closer to my goal so that made my day.

now for the next few weeks my wife will see even less of me, that may not be a good thing though
