i do like this layout better, one of the other things i did was move the engage and dir to the digital I/O instead of the PWM, i did leave the step inputs on the PWM. a friend of mine mentioned that i may get a better siginal if i left them there, and that he thought the other ones didn't need to be there.

mega files
i have still been working with eagle to try to make my steup a little better, i need to add the endstops in still but i do like how this one is turning out to be much better. once i get the endstops in i will make a wiki page for it, and post them to thingiverse.com

eagle
well today was my first day trying out and learning eagle and ki-cad. but here is what i did today, i will have to figure out how to post files on here so that i can share the eagle files if not just send me a message and i will get them to you has fast has i can.
i did get some insperation from the one on the wiki and i will try to post my work there has soon has i can,
but this is a fairly simple board, but i think it is still a good start. i only went with 4 because, i dont think the duel extruder will be really common for some time yet. and i thought i would keep it a little simpler. for my first day.

ideas still brewing
today i did a pretty rough idea of what i think the ideal arduino mega shield may be like. it is still pretty rough but here it is.
but one of the things that i think is a good idea is to put all the stepper drivers close together so that a person could put one larger heat sink on them. i also want to add a little prototyping area in the middle so that people can ad stuff that they would like, for example a lcd screen and more buttons.
but i would like to be able to modify the stepper from full to half but i am not sure what would be the best way to do that, i would like to do it with the arduino but that would use allot more digital I/O's so any ideas on that would be welcome
this is the start of what i would call a no compromise shield. i would like to be able to off load the temp monitoring onto a slave processor in time. but i think that is another discussion for another day.
